Early Childhood Centers

Since 2012, our organization works under the form of associate management, which foresees the joint participation of civil society organizations and the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, with the EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER PROGRAM of the direction of strengthening of the civil society.

Under this framework, we inaugurated our first Early Childhood Center, “GESTITOS,” located in the neighborhood of Mataderos, in conformity with the guiding principals of the Convention of the Rights of the Child, the National Constitution, the Constitution of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Law No. 26,061, Law No. 26,233, and Law No. 114.

The EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTERS, promoted by the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, aim to “ensure the growth and healthy development of children from 45 days to 4 years of age in situations of social vulnerability in the City of Buenos Aires, in pursuit of helping the promotion and protection of their rights.”

One year later, we inaugurated the second Early Childhood Center, “CASITAS,” in the neighborhood of Constitución. In January of 2017, the largest of our Early Childhood Centers, “IRQICHAY,” opened under the same legal framework and in compliance with the general objectives of the Early Childhood Center program that aims to:

  • Offer the basic elements for the satisfaction of physiological, affective, psychomotor, play, recreational and social needs for the healthy development of children and their environment.
  • Create an enabling space for early stimulation with children from 45 days to 2 years of age inclusive, and the formation and acquisition of habits with children from 3 to 4 years of age.
  • Provide the necessary care and assistance to parents so they can adequately assume their responsibilities and obligations in the upbringing and development of their children, creating conditions of active participation that strengthen interfamilial links.
  • Provide information and care to pregnant women in situations of social vulnerability about fundamental aspects of pregnancy care, childbirth, and the first months of care for their child, aiming to strengthen the ties between mother and child.

All Early Childhood Centers adhere to the program rules, working full-time (8 hours) and providing comprehensive care for boys and girls from 45 days to 3 years of age through the following benefits:

  • Food and Nutrition Attention: breakfast, lunch, and snack for the children who attend the centers daily, ensuring a proper and healthy diet to them as an essential requirement for integral development.
  • Prevention and promotional activities of health matter, through workshops and training, with children and their families. These activities are also offered to pregnant women.
  • Early stimulation and training through games, physical exercises, and activities carried out playfully, seeking to promote the development of the psychophysical, cognitive, communicative, and social skills of children.
  • Training through participatory workshops for families designed to offer information and care necessary to facilitate the upbringing of their children, strengthening the linkage between the two. This service is also offered to expectant mothers.

The Early Childhood Centers are open Monday through Friday, 8 hours daily, with all services provided free of charge.

Each Early Childhood Center has a basic team of work composed of:

• Director (Center Reference)
• In each room throughout the day: Teachers and Assistants
• Interdisciplinary Technical Team (Psychomotorist, Psychopedagogue, and Social Worker)
• Kitchen and Maintenance Staff

Today, 180 children attend the Early Childhood Center, “CASITAS,” 130 children attend Early Childhood Center, “GESTITOS,” and 200 children attend the Early Childhood Center, “IRQICHAY,” with a total of more than 500 children in the Federal Capital.
